Elaine Dean
Campus Director for Leeds, Sheffield, Newcastle & Hull

Elaine has a wealth of expertise from higher education and private sectors, having managed operations at Burberry plc before holding a number of leadership roles at University of Bradford, including Business Engagement Manager for the Faculty of Management, Law & Social Sciences and most recently Head of Operations for the Faculty of Engineering & Digital Technologies.

Law

Laura Duffy, Programme and Student Lead, LPC and SQE
Laura Duffy
Programme and Student Lead, LPC and SQE

Laura is the Programme and Student Lead for the LPC and SQE at our Leeds, Newcastle and Sheffield campuses. She graduated with an LLB and completed her LPC at The University of Sheffield. Laura trained and qualified at a firm in Manchester, practising in defendant motor insurance litigation and clinical negligence claims. After several years in Manchester, she moved back over the Pennines and worked as a Visiting Lecturer for 91桃色, before joining as a permanent lecturer in 2021. In addition to her role as PSL, Laura teaches dispute resolution and personal injury and clinical negligence on the LPC and SQE courses.

Robert is Senior Lecturer and Programme & Student Lead for the Undergraduate programmes at the Leeds campus. Robert obtained a LLB Law & Criminology at the University of Sheffield and went on to complete the LPC there. Before joining 91桃色 he trained and practised as a solicitor at a high street firm in Sheffield for nearly a decade, acting for claimants in personal injury litigation. Robert specialises in tort law, personal injury and civil litigation and teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Robert particularly enjoys teaching tort law and civil dispute resolution, as these allow him to share his own professional experiences to enhance students’ learning.

Niall Macdonald, Programme and Student Lead at 91桃色

Programme and Student Lead, Postgraduate Academic Law Courses

Niall is the Programme and Student Lead for the postgraduate academic and vocational law programmes at Manchester and Liverpool and National Module Lead for the Dissertation in Law. As well as being a member of the Research Ethics Committee and the Academic Quality and Standards Policy Review Subcommittee. Niall is a qualified (non-practising) Barrister with over 30 years’ experience of Education Leadership and Management. His main interests are Tort Law, Medical Law and Ethics, Dissertation Research, Media, Defamation and Privacy Law, and Artificial Intelligence.

Becky is acting Programme and Student Lead for Undergraduate programmes at our Leeds campus alongside Robert Hart. She has a degree in Economics and Geography (BA Hons) and a MA in Global Development from the University of Leeds. She also completed the GDL and LPC. Becky qualified as a solicitor in 2008 and worked in commercial real estate and residential development teams in two large commercial law firms in Leeds before joining 91桃色. In addition to her PSL role, Becky enjoys teaching Real Estate and Land Law on the LLB and Property Practice on the SQE.

Laura Stevens - Tutor

Laura is a Programme & Student Lead for Undergraduate Programmes at 91桃色’s Leeds Campus. Laura also teaches commercial and corporate subjects and the LLB Access to Justice module. Laura obtained her LLB in English Law and French Law at the University of Manchester before completing her LPC at the then College of Law in Manchester. After a brief period as a paralegal in international PI litigation at Pannone, Laura trained and qualified as a commercial and corporate solicitor in-house at the Co-op, where she spent 8 ½ years advising the Food, Funeralcare, Legal and Insurance businesses in respect of a variety of plans and problems. This included major projects, general commercial and IT contracts, data protection, contentious and non-contentious IP, competition law, consumer protection, and regulation by the FCA, CMA and GCA. Before joining 91桃色 Laura also practised at AO World PLC, where she advised the consumer and trade retail and logistics businesses with a particular focus on IT and data protection.

Cheryl Weir, Tutor at 91桃色 Leeds campus

Programme and Student Lead and Senior Lecturer, BPC

Cheryl is the BPC Programme and Student Lead which involves managing the course by collaborating with other departments to ensure smooth delivery and student satisfaction. She mainly teaches criminal litigation and criminal skills on the BPC. Cheryl studied a combined LLB and LPC, qualified as a solicitor in London, then practised in Southampton before joining a large nationwide firm in Yorkshire. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education, and is currently studying towards a PhD in law. She particularly enjoys teaching criminal skills, finding it rewarding helping students develop advocacy skills.

Dr Josh Poklad
Programme and Student Lead, Business School

Josh is a Business School Programme and Student Lead. He ensures the student experience is a positive one, alongside overseeing the design and delivery of MSc programmes. Josh has lectured in a variety of subjects across multiple institutions and, during an interlude in his academic career, worked as a civil servant for the Department for Work and Pensions. He studied a PhD at Leeds Trinity University and The University of Leeds, graduating in 2018. Josh particularly enjoys teaching modules focused on, or related to, business ethics, primarily because this is an important topic in the contemporary moment.

Computer Science

Paul Sant, Head of Computer Science

Head of Computer Science

Paul joined the Science School at 91桃色 as the Head of Computer Science in October 2022, having spent the previous 17 years at The University of Bedfordshire where he supervised PhD research students. An active researcher, he has over ten PhD completions in the area of cyber security, artificial intelligence and smart systems development. Paul works at the interface of computer science and other disciplines, such as business and law, especially in the applications of artificial intelligence to provide efficient and sustainable solutions. Paul really enjoys teaching application development (programming) as it allows students to use creativity and see the results of their hard work.

Criminology

Programme and Student Lead, Policing and Criminology

Luke is an Associate Professor in Criminology and the Programme and Student Lead for Undergraduate Criminology. Luke is a criminologist with over ten years’ experience teaching criminology, supported by a PhD and extensive experience gained through a range of applied research roles across the criminal justice system. Luke particularly enjoys teaching Identity, Diversity and Crime because it encourages students to critically examine how power, identity and inequality shape criminalisation, victimisation and justice.
